Description :
- First thing about my mustang is that "she" has been
repainted on a very dark red (Not the original Dakota Red).
- The originals Kluson
tuners have been
changed for new one (Kluson too).
- The
pickguard is black, the original was
certainly a white perloid one. I'm actualy trying to find a
white perloid pickguard, but it seems to be very expansive
(about 75 US dollars).
- As you can see on the
"take
a closer look" area, the
head numbers
are : DES. 186,826 PAT. 2,960,900 2,741,146 3,143,028 &
PAT. PEND this are the numbers for late 64 mustang Neck.
- It is confirmed by
the stamp at the base
of the neck where you can read "8 DEC 64 A"(The 8 of
decembre 1964). On some mustang body you can find a pencil
inscription for the date, as mine has been repainted, it's
not visible anymore. Learn More on
"Mister Maxima".
- The plate numbers are very har to read, but it seems to
be
L77361. Its is a 1965 body, that is not
very surprising because the neck is a very late 64 one. You
can find more information about the plate numbers on the
Official Fender website - As for
every Mustang, the neck is very small, very easy to
play and the guitar is very light.
Sound :
Mustangs guitars sound very loud. It has the most powerfull
single coil pickup I have ever heard. I use to play a
stratocaster before I bought my mustang, and it is really
different. It's very easy to "crunch" with it, you can
sound very bluesy. It's an excellent rythm guitar for
pop/rock, saturation his very deep with a good tube amp.
It's also very efficient for solos because the neck is easy
to play and the bridge pickup rocks !
I'm not sure that mustangs guitars are the best to play
Hard rock, Metal, Trash or Jazz, but after all, maybe you
have to try it.
